Greek and Gay Support Network

New members who are considering attending the Monday support meetings (every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month) are encouraged to read the Code of Conduct for the Greek Guys Group.

 The Code of Conduct protects the privacy of all members and encourages a respectful, honest and confidential support meeting.

What is this all about?

As the result of the committee meeting in September 2006, committee members who attended the meeting revised the Group Agreement – Code of Conduct for the Greek and Gay Group Melbourne, for both men and women.

Process:

The meeting held at September 2006 focussed on the re-development of the Group Agreement – Code of Conduct. Committee members who attended this meeting brainstormed, discussed, evaluated and drafted a set of guidelines that all group members are asked to adhere to. These guidelines aim to empower every member to assert themselves in maintaining a safe and supportive environment during the meetings.

Review: 

The Group Agreement – Code of Conduct for the Guy's Group will be reviewed annually to meet the ongoing needs of its members and the need of a safe and supportive environment in which members can meet.

Group Agreement – Code of Conduct for the Greek Guys Group

• The views of the individual are not the views of the group.

• DON’T INTERROGATE new members; DON’T BOMBARD people with questions.

• NO SOLICITING of phone numbers or personal details in group meetings, people caught doing so will be dealt with by the committee.

• If you wish to obtain some members phone numbers or other details you must ask a committee member first.

• Members will not partake or offer to take members home after meeting, if a member has no means of transport again committee members will help out and find the best way. 

• Use of Name Tags by at least committee members and other members who wish to.

• Confidentiality and Discretion - keep what is discussed in the group within the group.

• Do you want to be acknowledged outside of the group?

• Don’t out me!

• BE RESPECTFUL of people’s opinions.

• BE RESPECTFUL of people’s level of active participation.

• Challenge the issue and NOT the person.

• WELCOME people’s contributions to the Group.

• Be punctual, and if not, THEN DON’T INTERRUPT the whole meeting when you get here.

• BE MINDFUL of language skills in the Group.

• There will be a brief induction for any new members.

• BE RESPECTFUL of personal Hellenic Cultural Backgrounds.

• RELAX, ENJOY AND HAVE FUN!!!

NOTE - MEMBERS WHO BREACH AND VIOLATE THESE RULES WILL BE DEALT WITH BY THE COMMITEE.

This Code of Conduct will be reviewed annually by the Committee.
